- Broadening Horizons
In ELIS Villamartín the teaching and learning process goes the extra mile by offering our students a wide range of opportunities to broaden their skills, attitudes and life experiences that will make them well rounded citizens.
CAREERS GUIDANCE
At El Limonar International School Villamartín we are aware of the importance of enabling our students to adapt to the needs of the current workplace and, even more importantly, the workplace of the future. It is for this reason that our Careers Guidance Programme allows our students the opportunity to come into contact with both universities and the professional world. The main objective of our Careers Guidance Programme is to help our students answer questions such as: What do I want to study? What do I want to be in the future? Which universities should I apply to?
As a part of our ELIS Villamartín University Guidance Programme, our Year 11 and Year 12 students enjoy a Work Experience in both the state and the private sector. The aim of this activity, pioneer in our area of influence, is to provide ELIS Villamartín students with first-hand knowledge of the reality of different professions, which in turn allows them to make better-informed choices about their future careers. Work experience also gives them an advantage when applying for a place at a foreign and/or private university, since these practices enrich and differentiate their curriculum vitae.
Or last years students also attend to different university fairs included and participate in a series of professional conferences, aimed at providing them with detailed information about career choices. Our University Fair is a unique opportunity for parents, Secondary and Sixth Form students, their teachers and guidance staff to meet university admissions officers and learn more about the options open to students once they complete their schooling. Representatives from more than thirty universities from Spain and from abroad join us to showcase their educational offer, both in the exhibitor’s stands and in individual presentations.
TRIPS AND EDUCATIONAL VISITS
From Year 3 through to Year 13 (2º Primaria – 2º Bachillerato) students at El Limonar International School Villamartín are offered the possibility of taking part in residential trips of differing duration together with their class tutors and other members of school staff. These educational residential trips allow our students to develop their social skills at the same time as contributing to their personal autonomy and building group dynamics. All residential trips include return transport to and from school as well as full board and accommodation. Some of our destinations are farm schools, multi-adventure and water sport residentials, ski trips and other countries plus several compulsory residential trips for our Year 10 to Year 13 students depending on their IGCSE and A-Level course requirements.
