Mike & Stefania Pimblett
Head of Faculty Performance & SEN Coordinator/DSL at ELIS Murcia since 2015
“After having lived in London and Dubai, we were ready to embrace the Spanish lifestyle. We are very lucky to live in a beautiful rural part of Murcia as our children love life exploring outdoors and playing sports. At the weekends we love taking picnics to the beach as well as going for walks with our dogs and watching our boys play football for a local team. The fantastic Spanish weather allows us to spend lots of family time outside as well as time with our friends enjoying the Spanish fiestas and local celebrations.
The ELIS Murcia school community has always been incredibly friendly and supportive. We truly appreciate the great friends we have made here and we have always felt welcomed by the local community. Our children love studying at ELIS, and they too have made great friends. They enjoy the day to day challenges set by their teachers and they quite simply love the school.
ELIS Murcia has offered a great opportunity for us both to develop as professionals, and we are grateful to work with such a committed, supportive and inspirational team. “
Year 4 Class Tutor at El Limonar International School Murcia since 2004
“When I was offered a post at El Limonar International School Murcia, I was fresh out of university and at an important crossroads in my life. A four month position offered me the opportunity to practise my Spanish and submerge myself in a completely different culture. Little did I know how this decision would change my life.
Fast forward over ten years and here I am living in a small coastal village, within walking distance of the beach. This, accompanied by a warm, sun-blessed Mediterranean climate, lends itself to an idyllic way of life.
I have made many acquaintances, developed strong friendships and even met and married a wonderful man. Professionally, I do not think I could wish for more. I work in a wonderful environment where every day is challenging but fun thanks to the children’s infectious sense of joie de vivre. My colleagues are a supportive, close-knit unit who share in the small, every day triumphs of teaching children with enquiring minds, and are always there to lend a hand.
My fulfilment, both professionally and personally, is quite simply down to taking a leap of faith all those years ago, and one I do not regret for a moment.”
Primary English Immersion Tutor at El Limonar International School Murcia since 1999
“Life as a Primary teacher at El Limonar International School Murcia is certainly never dull! From the moment I walk into the school in the morning, I am bombarded with the children’s enthusiastic welcome and insatiable thirst for knowledge, which only ceases (as far as I am concerned) when they are prised away at the end of the day.
For the moments when one needs some respite, there is relative tranquillity and bonhomie (the “relative” refers to the former, not the latter!) in the staff dining-room, where we converse in a multi-cultural, relaxed environment.
The sound of the school bell propels us from one lesson to the next, and I am always surprised when another day, or even year, has finished. But then I look at how the children have changed in the ten months that I have known them and how much they have learnt and I feel proud they have risen to the challenge… just as I have!”
