External Language Examinations

French Language Examinations – DELF

The DELF is an official language diploma certified by the French Ministry of Education and is considered proof of a pupil’s level in the French language.  The diploma is examined over several modules allowing each pupil to work within flexible time periods. A certificate is obtained for each level reached.

Pupils who wish to take the examination receive preparation as an integral part of their French classes.  Our students are currently successful in DELF examinations that allow them to reach between levels A1 and C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The qualification is recognised internationally as proof of linguistic competence in the French language as validated by the CEFR.

German Language Examinations – Goethe Institut

The Goethe Institut examinations are designed for students of German as a Foreign Language and constitute official recognition of a pupil’s level. Success in the Goethe Institut examinations is recognised by Universities and in the business world. Pupils who wish to take the examination receive preparation as part of normal German classes.

Our pupils take the Fit in Deutsch 1 & 2, and Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche examinations. Our students are currently successful in Goethe Institut examinations that allow them to reach between levels A1 and C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Chinese Language Examinations – HSK

HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi or ‘Chinese Proficiency Test’ in Chinese) is China’s only standardised test of Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers, such as foreign students and overseas Chinese.  The test is administered by Hanban, a non-government organisation affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

Pupils who wish to take the examination receive preparation within their Chinese classes.  Currently, El Limonar International School Murcia students sit exams between levels 1 and 3.  An HSK certificate is valid without any limitation in China.

English Language Examinations

By studying the National Curriculum of England and taking IGCSE English language courses, all of our students reach the equivalent of level B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In addition to this, students sit University of Cambridge ESOL examinations as detailed below.

Year 11 (4º ESO) – Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) – CEFR level C1

The CAE is an advanced level examination which assesses a pupil’s ability to communicate in English in various contexts – social, professional and educational. Our pupils study towards this examination in specific classes in the final two years of Secondary. This certificate, or the CPE, is normally an entrance requirement for universities where classes are taught in English.

Year 13 (2º BACHILLERATO) – Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – CEFR level C2

The CPE examination is the most advanced of the Cambridge suite of examinations and assesses a pupil’s ability to communicate in diverse contexts. Most of our pupils work towards the CPE examination in specific classes during Sixth Form (Bachillerato), the final two years of schooling. This certificate, or the CAE, is normally an entrance requirement for universities where classes are taught in English.
