Academic Offer

International British School Curriculum

Four features are central to the educational offer at El Limonar International School Murcia: a curriculum of high academic standards and expectations; social and moral development; personalised attention; and extra and co-curricular activities.

With the exception of subjects which are taught in Spanish, which follow the Spanish Ministry of Education programmes, the curriculum at El Limonar International School Murcia follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales. The Secondary (6º Primaria – 4º ESO) and Sixth Form (1º & 2º Bachillerato) curriculum offer prepares all students for IGCSE and A-Level examinations.

Student qualifications are therefore:

  • IGCSEs and the Spanish Graduado en Educación Secundaria Obligatoria at the end of Year 11 (4º ESO);
  • A-Levels and the Spanish Título de Bachiller at the end of Year 13 (2º Bachillerato).

The School Day

All students at El Limonar International School Murcia (ages 3 – 18) start their school day at 9.10am with lessons finishing at 4.30pm. Morning breaks are at different times according to level (Early Years, Primary, Secondary & Sixth Form).

Lunch sittings are also staggered depending on pupils’ age and year group. A hot three-course meal is prepared and served every day on the school premises. All students from Nursery through to Year 11 (Infant 3 – 4º ESO) eat school lunch in our dining halls. Our 3 – 5 year old pupils have their own dining room facilities, and are also provided with a mid-morning snack, with all other students having lunch in the main dining hall. Year 12 & 13 (1º & 2º Bachillerato) students are encouraged to have school lunches whilst having the option of bringing their own food each day.
