Last Friday 11 February, the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena (RCRC) presented El Limonar International School (ELIS) as the sponsor of its light sailing team.
Under the name RCRC-ELIS Sailing Team, a powerful group of young sailors from the Optimist and ILCA categories will participate in regional, national and international competitions, striving to improve on their already excellent results.
Beyond sports sponsorship, ELIS and RCRC share common values and goals for young people: effort, learning, perseverance and self-improvement. In addition, both institutions are firm advocates of solidarity and respect for the environment.
As a result of this relationship, ELIS will contribute to the sporting development of RCRC sailors in two light sailing categories:
In Optimist class, where the youngest (between 5 and 15 years old) start at the Sailing School and move forward in the competition teams. Year after year the regional champion is from the RCRC, securing a place in national and international competitions. And in the ILCA (International Laser Class Association); a category for the over-16s and in which the RCRC has a promising group that is already reaping good results.
The RCRC-ELIS Sailing Team will participate in all the Regional Scoring Trophies of the Murcia Region Sailing Federation, in addition to other national regattas, including the Spanish cups and championships, with the best performers participating in international events.
This agreement will also bring favourable conditions to club members who wish to enrol their children at one of the ELIS schools, which already have students and school transport in the area. ELIS families will also be able to benefit from exclusive conditions with the regatta club.
Present at the signing of the agreement were the president José García-Bravo and Esther Gutiérrez, on behalf of the RCRC; Jose Antonio García, Business Manager, was present on behalf of ELIS.
