Yesterday ELIS Murcia celebrated a significant and special event: our first ever Duke of Edinburgh International Award ceremony. It was extra-special because it was the first event that we have been able to invite parents and families to within our new Upper School campus at Montevida.

The ceremony began with an opening speech given by our Principal, Vanessa Grimward, who explained the history and importance of this international award, its impact across the globe and how it integrates within the ethos behind our accreditation process with the Council of International Schools.

The event continued with interventions from Joseph Short, our Duke of Edinburgh International Award Coordinator and participating Year 11 students and concluded with some words from our Head of Upper School, Jon Wayth. All those involved in this programme highlighted its multiple benefits, their journey so far and their future plans, and how much students can learn from it.

The highlight of the event was of course the award ceremony itself, when our Year 11 students received their bronze badges and certificates.

Congratulations everyone! This is only the beginning… are you ready now for your silver award?
