At El Limonar International School, we clearly see that the education we provide for our students must, first and foremost, open as many doors as possible for their lives after school has finished. We know that education must be a holistic experience that focuses as much on the development of self-esteem, social skills, thoughtfulness and the ability to reason and evaluate, as it does on pure academic achievement.

Since our foundation in 1990, our educational programme is academically rigorous and produces outstanding results at all ages. At the same time the programme develops each pupil’s sense of respect and dignity in order for every member of our community to achieve excellence within a framework which nurtures, challenges and promotes intellectual growth. Our aim is for all ELIS students to achieve more than they ever believed possible.

Like all other Cognita Schools, the diverse family of international schools that we are part of, we are driven by a mission and philosophy of inclusion and inquiry that means our students relish the learning process they experience each day. An experience that opens the doors a child needs to take their place in the global markets and societies of the future.

In order to promote this global awareness and citizenship, at the start of this academic year we began our accreditation process for the Council of International Schools (CIS). CIS is a membership community working collaboratively to shape international education through professional services to schools, higher education institutions and individuals. In line with the ELIS Murcia educational principles, the CIS vision is to inspire the development of global citizenship through high quality international education: connecting ideas, cultures, students and educators from all over the world.

Today, we are proud to announce that we have received notification of CIS Membership, conferred by the CIS Board of Trustees. Membership has been granted as a result of ELIS Murcia demonstrating our alignment with the CIS Code of Ethics and Principles, and through our leadership in international education, sharing knowledge, embracing diverse perspectives and challenging ourselves to continuously improve.

We look forward to the next steps, over the coming months, which will lead us to become a fully CIS accredited school for the benefit of our amazing ELIS community of students, parents and staff.
