This Friday all the staff from both ELIS schools celebrated our fourth INSET Day at ELIS Villamartín. An intense and interesting day to strengthen our community which involved an extraordinary programme of talks and workshops especially aimed at the needs of the different school teams.
Our INSET day has a dual focus: a session designed to promote staff wellbeing, reflection and self-management; and several sessions that will contribute to the ELIS Teaching & Learning agenda by focusing on feedback and ensuring we offer great teaching to students of all phases.
The teaching staff were fortunate to attend talks from Ross McGill, undoubtedly one of the most influential teaching gurus in the world, who led different sessions on ‘How to instill the conditions for great feedback and teaching in order reduce workload and have a greater impact on student learning’, ‘Feedback – focus on teacher time and validity of feedback practices ‘ and ‘Great Teaching – using feedback to inform great teaching’.
The day also included the visit of the prestigious cognitive psychologist Bill Mitchell and its presentation “Wellbeing: the work-life balance” and the coach Israel Ponce, who presented his workshop about personal and team motivation.
Moreover, the ELIS catering team from both schools visited the Inamar facilities in San Pedro del Pinatar for a practical workshop on rational oven and variocooking training.
This INSET Day also counted on time for leisure to strengthen the links and friendship between both school staff even more. An amazing day that undoubtedly influences our professionals wellbeing and their service to our educational community.
