On Friday 8 March the Agalia Hotel hosted our annual ELIS Murcia Charity Dinner pro-Vicente Ferrer Foundation, now in its sixth edition.
As always, all funds raised in this event are donated to the project previously selected by our Student Council. This year the beneficiary will be the Pediatric Orthopaedic Department of the Bathalapalli Hospital in Anantapur, India.
More than one hundred parents of current students, parents of former students and ELIS staff joined together for a cocktail reception and dinner followed by the now traditional charity raffle. All prizes were kindly donated by school parents and the raffle itself was conducted by the prestigious journalist and presenter María Huerta. There was also time for a few words from our Executive Principal, Chris Eversden, and representatives from FVF and our AMPA.
Dolores Abellán, organizer of this event and one of our ELIS Murcia Charity Officers, described her visit to Anantapur last Christmas. In this journey, she was able to experience first-hand the amazing work of FVF as well as visiting some of the important projects our school community has collaborated with so far.
Overall, this event raised a total of 2,439 euros. These funds will be added to other monies collected during the academic year (charity markets, Younger Games, MUFTI days etc.) to contribute to this excellent project.
